The Sounds of a New Generation

Here are three components to include in your artist – band website. These tips are designed keeping in mind the music writers (who need access to their information quickly and easily because they are constantly under deadline.)

1. His music – album or live songs

You are a band / musician, after all, speaks for you and nothing more than music. Make sure you have some music available on their website either web streamable or downloadable. You should also seriously consider giving away a free track or two in downloadable MP3 format so people can enjoy their iPods.

2. Biography and a brief sentence about the sound

Bio – Make sure you have a short biographical summary that can be easily located on its website (in addition to the long form, blogs and all views of every member of the band – which are fun for your fans, but not for music writers who are looking to get information quickly. Make sure that this biography is easy to cut and paste to writers can fall into a preview or a column. Not incurred in the fancy bio or flash – make it easy to cut and paste from a writer or the writer will not be able to use your bio.

ALWAYS short phrase describing the sound perfectly – also includes a brief abstract (at least 6 words) that summarizes their sound for calendar publishers.

3. Photos – make easy to find, and click download

Thumbnails are great for quick charge and easy but should always have a couple of pictures to download from your site (Color and black and white) in at least 300 dpi – Create a link that says "click here for a high resolution jpeg" so that picture editors can reach them easily – and remember to change your photos a couple of times a year – as if markets repeat play options can be given multiple media to cover it.
